Breaking news: Police charge driver after officer rammed

03 Jul, 2009 01:11 PM
Horsham police have charged a Dimboola man, 42, after a police offer attending a domestic dispute in the town was rammed by a car on Thursday.

The man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, assault and dangerous driving.

The incident occurred when a police officer attended a job in Victoria Street about 3.30pm on Thursday where an intoxicated man was wielding a baseball bat.

Police allege the 42-year-old man drove towards both parties attempting to injure the civilian.

``The vehicle has struck both of them and the civilian was carried about 10 metres by the car,'' a police spokesman said.

``Both the officer and civilian were treated for minor injuries.''

The man was released on bail and scheduled to appear at Horsham Magistrates Court.
