A GERMAN couple have thanked Wimmera rescue services after their car plunged off Mount Victory Road in the Grampians on Wednesday afternoon.

Steffen Henrich and his wife Melanie Baik were one week into an Australian holiday when the accident happened but despite falling more than 150 metres down an embankment Mr Henrich escaped unharmed and Mrs Baik only received cuts to her head.
The pair have given a hearfelt thanks to the police, SES, CFA and ambulance officers who helped them during the ordeal.
They are yet to decide whether to continue their holiday in Australia.

A German tourist injured when her car plunged 150 metres into a Grampians ravine has been lifted to safety by emergency crews.
Police, SES and paramedics worked together to carry the tourist back up the ravine.
An earlier plan to lift the woman out by helicopter was abandoned due to weather conditions.
The tourist is believed to have minor head lacerations.
The car plunged more than 150 metres down a steep embankment into the ravine, coming to rest in a creek bed, just after 4pm.
The woman's husband, who was also in the car, escaped uninjured.
The man scrambled to the top of the ravine to raise the alarm.
The accident happened on the Mount Victory Road on the Halls Gap side of Zumsteins.
