ORGANISERS of Dimboola's 150th celebrations are overwhelmed with the success of the event.
Organising committee president John Moar said the celebrations, which began on Thursday and end today, had received fantastic support from the Dimboola community and the hundreds of former residents who returned to the town.
"It probably turned out bigger than what we thought it would," he said.
Mr Moar said it was pleasing to see everyone enjoy the activities, reunions and events around the town.
"Seeing the number of people who have been having fun has been great," he said.
"It's certainly all been worthwhile."
Joint secretary and life-long Dimboola resident Pam Budde agreed that the celebrations had exceeded the expectations of the organising committee.
"It's everything we had hoped for," she said.
"People will talk about it for weeks to come."
Mrs Budde nominated a street parade on Saturday as a highlight of the celebrations.
"It was absolutely 100 per cent, it was a great representation of the old to new," she said.
"My son travelled from Melbourne and he said you'd never see anything like it anywhere else.
"Everyone has been talking about it."
Mrs Budde said crowds stayed after the weekend, taking advantage of open days at Dimboola schools on Monday and a Melbourne Cup luncheon yesterday.
"It was great a lot of people stayed around and took part in everything they could," she said.
