Children set for fun with Horsham's 'Operation 19:14'

08 Aug, 2011 10:30 AM
HORSHAM'S Uniting and Lutheran churches and the Church of Christ will come together for a children's extravaganza this month.

The joint churches event 'Operation 19:14' at Sawyer Park on August 28 will bring children together with an afternoon of music, sports and crafts.

Organiser Mark Busbridge said the event promised something for everyone.

"I always wanted to get everyone together and get a good children's concert in Horsham," he said.

"It is a bit of a dream I am trying to live out."

Mr Busbridge said a highlight would be a performance by Melbourne band 'SNACK'.

"They are geared towards primary-aged children and it is a lively inter-active show," he said.

"Everything at the event will be free."

Mr Busbridge said the committee had also organised train rides, jumping castles, crafts, pony rides, face painting, tug of war competitions, lucky door prizes and a Horsham 298 signing choir performance.

He said 'Zorb balls' would also feature at the event.

The balls are made from transparent plastic and riders are placed inside.

Committee member Linda Wundke organised free Zorb rides after trying the experience with her children.

"We had such a fantastic time using them and it was an experience they talked about for a long time afterwards," she said.

"They are something a lot of children in Horsham might not have seen before.

"The day is a fantastic opportunity for families. We are really looking forward to it and we hope as many people as possible come along."

The event will run from 1pm to 4pm.

People can call Mr Busbridge on 0468 636 596 for more information.
