WIMMERA fire-fighters controlled a 20-hectare bushfire in the Little Desert National Park by Monday morning.
The fire, in the park's western block, was reported at 10.30pm on Sunday after lightning strikes that evening.
Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria fire-fighting crews had done earlier reconnaissance flights in areas where lightning hit on Sunday afternoon, and detected no fires at the time.
Department and Parks Victoria fire-fighters attended the fire, near Kaniva-Edenhope Road, and assisted the CFA fire-fighters already there.
Crews used a bulldozer to track the perimeter of the fire as it burnt further into the park.
Fire-fighters contained the fire by 2.45am on Monday and controlled it by 4.30am.
Department of Sustainability and Environment incident controller Russell Manning, at Horsham Incident Control Centre, said warm temperatures overnight did not help.
"Temperatures didn't get much below the mid-20s on the ground, so that's why the fire behaviour was quite intense," he said. "Once crews jumped onto some spot-overs and quietened down the fire edge, they had it under control.
"With the forecast in the mid-30s for most of this week, we will still have fire crews patrolling and blacking out the fire this week."
