Fresh vandalism alarms Horsham's Warren Morson

08 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
VANDALS have defaced a Horsham North playground for the second time in six months.

Horsham North resident Warren Morson was horrified to come across graffiti of a sexual nature at Charisma Park while there with his grand-daughter on Sunday.

Mr Morson also discovered graffiti on the playground equipment in October.

He said Horsham Rural City Council installed a new piece of equipment after the October incident and it was disappointing that vandals had struck again.

"There were graphic images of body parts and two names on the equipment," he said.

"Children can't use the equipment with that on there.

"It had to have happened over the weekend because I was there on Friday and it wasn't there then.

"It is very disappointing that people are doing this."

Mr Morson reported the graffiti to council, which cleaned it on Monday.

"It was a great response from council to clean it straight away - it was excellent," he said.

Mr Morson said he believed children around the ages of 12 and up were responsible for the graffiti and hoped that parents and neighbours could do something about the problem.

"These kids need to be taught respect for their own property and that of others," he said.
