HORSHAM Rural City Council has launched a study to update Horsham's central activity district strategy.
Horsham Mayor Mandi Stewart said council was working in partnership with Wimmera Development Association and Business Horsham.
Cr Stewart said the purpose of the study was to identify ways to improve the Horsham central business district and provide a clear direction for future development.
"The outcomes from the strategy will provide guidance to council, businesses, investors and the community on how Horsham's business and commercial core will develop during the next 10 to 15 years," she said.
Cr Stewart said Melbourne firm Essential Economics would collate the new strategy, in conjunction with Meinhardt and Urban Initiatives.
"These firms bring a wide range of expertise in urban economics, urban design and urban planning to the project and will combine to provide a robust and innovative approach to future planning and development outcomes," she said.
Wimmera Development Association executive director Jo Bourke encouraged business people, developers and the community to have their say.
"Everyone will benefit from an efficient, stimulating and well functioning centre of town," Mrs Bourke said.
"I encourage the community and stakeholders to participate in this project because their knowledge and ideas will help the project's overall success."
Mrs Bourke said the consultants invited feedback on Horsham's existing services including places people shopped and visited regularly and services that were lacking.
She said submissions would close on March 30.
Mrs Bourke said people could email submissions to horsham@essentialeconomics.com or post them to Nick Brisbane, Essential Economics at 96 Pelham Street, Carlton, 3053.
