A bush fire in the Meereek State Forest, 15 kilometres south-west of Edenhope, has burnt 472 hectares including 80 hectares of farm land.
The fire was contained at 2am, after the Department of Sustainability and Environment, Parks Victoria and CFA staff and volunteers worked throughout the night.
Four fire bombing aircraft continue to work on the fire today after 25 loads of retardant were used by fixed-wing bombing aircraft to prevent the fire spreading into a blue gum plantation to the east.
Fire chiefs hope to have the fire under control by 4pm today.
