KIM Graham received the shock of her life yesterday when a tree crashed through her bedroom window.
Miss Graham lives in the Ern Gerlach Place units in Park Drive, Horsham, and was unaware of the chaos erupting outside when a storm lashed Horsham around 2pm yesterday.
She said she was playing the computer when she heard a loud bang and ran to her bedroom to see a tree from the nature strip had smashed through her window and rain and wind were lashing her room.
"I was so scared, I just heard this almighty crash and bang and the wind and the rain were coming in through the window," Miss Graham said. "I was really scared and was very lucky not to get hurt."
Miss Graham said she had concerns about the tree causing damage.
"The tree was old and I knew something was going to happen. I am just trying to make sure no more of my belongings get ruined now," she said.
"I need to get a tarp up over the window so the rain doesn't damage any more of my belongings."
The tree in front of Miss Graham's home was one of three trees felled in Park Drive during the storm.
Murray Street resident Cliff Taylor kept his sense of humour despite having a tree crash onto his roof.
Mr Taylor received a call at work from a neighbour letting him know the large tree in his front yard had split and fallen onto his roof.
When he came home he realised his luck because no windows had been broken and it appeared the tree was resting on the roof without causing too much damage.
"The SES had a look and said it wasn't too serious; they said they had a lot of other jobs to get to around town so they told me to just start cutting the limbs away carefully. All I have is an old hand saw so I suppose I had better get to it," Mr Taylor said.
It isn't the first time Mr Taylor has been hit by natural disaster.
A tree crashed onto his fence in a storm a decade ago and earlier this year his other property just escaped damage in the Remlaw fire.
