Julie-Ann Trenery-Rogers, a mother of five children, died in her home town of Goroke.

The Goroke community has rallied behind the family, creating a trust fund for Mrs Trenery-Rogers' children.

Mother Margaret Trenery said her daughter was excited to be pregnant again, and had always wanted a big family.

"She had a big heart. She loved her family," she said.

Mrs Trenery said the shooting had rocked the Goroke community.

"The college is in the process of setting up a trust fund for the children," she said.

"There has also been residents donating food and other items. It has been truly humbling.

"We would like to thank everyone in the region for their support."

Mrs Trenery is taking care of her grandchildren, Mary-Ann, 14; Emily, 13; Hayley, 9; Patrick, 8; and Ruby, 20 months.

"I have moved into her house to help the children. I have been lucky to have strong support from my sons," she said.

Mrs Trenery said her daughter loved Goroke and was an active part of the region.

"She was a good-natured person who was involved in her children's lives," she said.

"Julie-Ann often listened to children read at Goroke P-12 College and she was part of the parents' club. She was also involved in reforming the Goroke Scouts Group.

"In her younger days she played netball at Border Districts. She also loved horse riding and spent some time working on stations."

Mrs Trenery said her family was important to Mrs Trenery-Rogers.

"She was born and raised here. She moved to Horsham and married Shane Rogers, they then moved to Warrnambool and Bermagui in NSW. After they split up she came home to visit family, realised how much she missed the region and came back," she said.

"Julie-Ann's father died when she was 14. He had a heart attack during Christmas 1991. When she returned to Goroke in 2005 her two brothers and I were support for her."

Bank details for the trust account are still being finalised but Goroke P-12 College is accepting donations.

Mrs Trenery-Rogers will be farewelled at a funeral service at Goroke Memorial Hall tomorrow at 2pm.
