Family, friends and army mates from Townsville heard that Phillip was a loved son, brother and boyfriend.
Private Jarrod Bryant and Private Jake Sims spoke about Phillip's love of life and good nature at the funeral service on Wednesday.
"Our mate Phil was a loyal mate, although crazy at times," Private Bryant said.
He spoke about Phillip's new life with `the girl he loved', Rebecca Munster, and how he couldn't wait to tell his parents Mel and Lynne about his new life with Rebecca.
Private Bryant said Phillip's mouth was a `double-edged weapon'. He said it would get him into trouble but then he would be able to talk his way out of it.
He spoke about Phillip's outstanding athletic ability, like coming fourth in the unit's cross country, but of his debatable soccer skills.
He said Phillip played soccer with East Timor children when he served in Dili but said his soccer skills were `forgettable'.
"Phil not only meant a great deal to us, but each and everyone of us he shared his life with," Private Bryant said.
"We're all better for having had Phil in our lives and we will all miss him deeply."
A photographic slide show illustrated Phillip's life, from birth to his years at Minyip and Murtoa primary and secondary schools.
Many photos showed Phillip with motorbikes. Pastor Harry Ludwig said Phillip was passionate about motorbikes and cars.
"He had his first mini bike when he was seven years old," Pastor Ludwig said.
"Riding around the quarry was a favourite pastime; he would get out there whenever possible."
Phillip died doing something he loved the most, riding a motorbike. He was killed in a motorbike accident in Townsville on August 10.
Kerry Boschen, nee Stilsby, gave birth to Phillip on February 1, 1986. Kerry was diagnosed with leukaemia and died seven weeks after Phillip's birth.
Phillip's father Melville Boschen later remarried Lynne Byron, with Phillip the pageboy.
Phillip soon had two siblings, little sister Jessica and younger brother Ryan.
Ryan struggled to say Phillip's name. As a result Phillip gained the nickname `Whoop'.
A gun carriage escorted Phillip's casket, draped with the Australian flag, to the cemetery, accompanied by a 30-piece brass band.
Phillip was buried at Horsham Cemetery. As his casket was lowered into the ground a firing party let off a volley of shots, sending a loud, sharp sound through the cemetery grounds.
A bugler played The Last Post before mourners placed wreaths at Phillip's burial site.
More than 500 people attended the funeral.
Friends Cameron Niewand, Michael Loats, Geoff Fagan, Heath Talbot, Jess Talbot and Brent Hudson carried Phillip's casket from the church.
Mates from Phillip's regiment Lance Corporal Adam Churchward, Lance Corporal Dallas Cameron, Private Jake Sims, Private John Brazendale, Private David Longmire and Private Lachlan Frankland lowered Phillip's casket into the ground.
