WARRACKNABEAL Secondary College students are preparing for a two-week visit to their sister school in Japan.
Teachers will accompany a group of 14 students on the journey to the Hatsushiba Sakai Junior High School in Osaka from October 2 to October 15.
Acting assistant principal John Tonkin said former principal Leo Casey arranged the sister school relationship in 2004.
Since then Japanese students have visited Warracknabeal every year and Warracknabeal Secondary College students have visited Japan every two years.
Mr Tonkin said the Warracknabeal students would be hosted by the families of the Japanese students who stayed with them earlier in the year.
"The students will be visiting the school and taking part in a range of activities including visiting Hiroshima, Kyoto, the Water Temple and Universal Studios of Japan," he said.
"It gives the students a really practical focus for learning Japanese, and it is an amazing cross- cultural experience for them."
Mr Tonkin said students who elected to study Japanese in years nine and 10 were eligible to take part in the program.
He said the students going on this year's trip had been selling chocolates to help cover some of the costs.
"The students are all very excited about it," he said.
