A SPANISH tourist, 29, was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne on Saturday after falling between three and five metres while rock climbing at Mt Zero.
A Victorian Police media spokeswoman said the man slipped, dislodging his anchor rope and landing on his back.
The man was flown to Melbourne with suspected spinal injuries.
The spokeswoman said a Melbourne man, 30, was holding the anchor rope and fractured his wrist during the incident.
Ambulance Victoria media spokesman John Mullen said paramedics received a call-out to Watchtower Rock, Mt Zero, at 3.58pm.
"He had no loss of conciousness, but complained of back and neck soreness and had facial abrasions," he said. "The man was spinally immobilised as a precaution and was walked out on a stretcher to the Halls Gap Oval and was flown by Air Ambulance helicopter to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
"The man's friend waited with the patient and was also treated at the scene."
Mr Mullen said police and SES also attended the incident. A Royal Melbourne Hospital media spokeswoman said the Spanish man was in a stable condition.
