Wild winds blow through the region

06 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
THE State Emergency Service attended three minor incidents in Horsham as a result of strong winds in the region yesterday.

Winds of up to 95kmh were recorded at the Mt Arapiles fire watchtower yesterday morning.

Horsham SES deputy operations controller Gary Frost said crews received their first call-out at 10am.

"A small tree had split and fallen onto the road at Homers Court as a result of wind damage," Mr Frost said. "Just after we got changed to go home, we received a call out to an incident at Fraser Drive.

"The centre pillar in a garage had fallen into two roller doors, taking the doors with it.

"There was no damage to the two cars inside, but we helped the owners move their car out safely and left the reconstruction job to contractors."

Mr Frost said another call out was received at 1.24pm. He said sheets of iron had lifted off a roof on Robinson Street.
