Works progress on new Horsham golf clubhouse

10 Feb, 2012 08:37 AM
WORKS on Horsham Golf Club's new clubhouse have entered their second week. The clubhouse was razed in the Black Saturday fires and a new $4.5-millon clubhouse is due for completion by January next year.

Club manager Anthony Crute said workers had been on site this week and had disconnected gas and electricity supplies.

"Plumbers have been working on the site and we're also putting some fencing around the perimeter," he said. "Next week we'll get excavators in to begin work on laying the foundations for the clubhouse."

Mr Crute said everything had gone to plan so far and there had been a lot of public interest in the works.

"We've had plenty of phone calls from people wanting to keep up to date with what's happening," he said. "We've also been asked to speak at a number of events. One of our board members attended a civil construction dinner on Wednesday night."

Mr Crute said the club continued to enjoy good playing numbers, with more than 60 women turning out for a women's competition yesterday.
