HAVEN teenager Jake Lloyd was selected in the Victorian Country under-18 basketball team on Sunday.
Lloyd, 16, will play for the side when it travels to Sydney in April for the national under-18 championships.
Lloyd was part of the under-16 which won the national title in 2008 and he said the team hoped to do it again this year.
"There is some expectation there but we have pretty much the same side so we want to win it again," he said.
Lloyd credited extra training with Horsham basketball coaches Owen Hughan and Steve Bruce as the key to making the team.
"All the extra work stood out towards the end of the trials," he said.
Lloyd is also a member of the Horsham Hornets Big V Basketball League team and played in the Hornets grand final side last year.
He is also a talented footballer, doing pre-season training with TAC Cup side North Ballarat Rebels after playing in the Horsham Demons Wimmera League premiership side last year.
He said working with both groups was hectic but worth doing.
"I will have to make a choice between the two soon," he said.
"But I like doing the training for both of them."
Lloyd talks about his dilemma to either play football or basketball this year in Friday's Wimmera Mail- Times.
