HOMERS and Blackheath have received a massive boost in the Horsham Cricket Association A Grade finals race.
The association board has awarded the two clubs three points each from their postponed match in November.
The association initially said the two teams would not receive any points but both clubs filed grievances with the league asking the decision be reviewed.
The board made the decision at a special meeting on Thursday night.
The two clubs agreed to postpone the match which was meant to be played on November 28 and 29 due to players from both teams being unavailable.
The decision has dramatically changed the ladder with the Plainsmen, moving up to second on 39 points while Homers move equal with third- placed Noradjuha on 37 points.
Noradjuha was the big loser from the decision, falling from second to third.
Plainsmen captain Jason Templeton said he was always confident the two sides would get the points.
"We are where we thought we should be," he said.
Homers captain Simon Hopper said he still would have preferred to play the match.
"We did everything the association asked," he said.
"If we had done the wrong thing we wouldn't have challenged it but we did everything they asked so it was a fair outcome."
Association president Tim Lannen said the board awarded the points because the original decision was wrong.
"The first decision was procedurally incorrect," he said. "So the board gave them the points."
The Plainsmen are in position to take outright points against Colts on day two of their clash at Dudley Cornell Park on Saturday.
But Templeton said his side would take its win and not stretch for full points.
"We just need to keep winning matches and we will get second place. We will look to bat as long as we can on Saturday and if we bowl again so be it," he said.
