The Wimmera Football League club was the subject of rife speculation suggesting it would fold less than two weeks out from the 2012 season.
Club president Peter Miller dispelled the rumours which were floating around football circles on Wednesday.
"I have no idea where they came from. Honestly we hear rumours about us every year and it gets tiring," he said.
"It's pathetic really. It's sad people who have nothing better to do who start these things."
Mr Miller said the club met with league officials on Tuesday to discuss its junior program.
He said while there was concern about its juniors, the club was in a strong off-field position.
"We are planning to build the club. We have gone to the trouble of getting a great committee and coaching staff together," Mr Miller said.
"We are doing things to build the club - not shutting the doors on it."
Wimmera Football League commissioner John Smith said the rumours were disappointing.
"We shouldn't be jumping at shadows but whoever is playing the game it is quite a scandalous attitude and activity," he said.
Mr Smith said Tuesday night's meeting with the Diggers regarding junior numbers was 'excellent'.
"We are doing all we can to look at the issue," he said.
"They are not the only club in that situation and we know that.
"We want to see a fair and equal competition.
"Each club has its own affairs and that's acknowledged.
"The commission would like to do more with schools and the AFL development."
