Roos welcome additions to 2010 season

08 Feb, 2010 10:39 AM
HARROW-BALMORAL has signed several key players for the 2010 Horsham District Football League season.

Harrow-Balmoral recruiting manager Tim Leeming said former Border Districts ruckman Josh Vickery and Coleraine midfielder Gareth Egan had joined the club.

"Both players will bring a lot of experience to the club," he said.

Leeming said Vickery, 26, played for Border Districts in the Kowree- Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League in 2002, 2008 and 2009, winning the club best and fairest in 2008 and finishing second last season.

Vickery also played a season with Donald in the North Central Football League, winning a premiership in 2004, as well as a stint with Coleraine in the South West District Football League, winning premierships in 2005 and 2007 and finishing third in the league best and fairest in 2007.

"Vickery is very versatile and mobile," Leeming said.

"He is a ruckman, but also has the ability to play an on-ball role."

Leeming described Egan, 26, as a talented midfielder.

"He is hard as nails," he said.

Leeming said Egan had played with Hamilton in the Western Border Football League from 1999-2004, before joining Coleraine in the South West District Football League from 2005-2009.

Leeming said Egan played in a premiership with Hamilton in 2004, as well premierships with Coleraine in 2007, 2008 and 2009, winning the club best and fairest in 2007 and finishing runner-up in the league best and fairest in the same year.

Leeming said forward Simon Close, 18, had also committed to the club after spending last season splitting his time between the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup and Hamilton Imperials in the Western Border Football League.

"Close is doing a full pre-season with us before he travels to Canada in April but will be back for the second half of the season," he said.

Leeming said the club would also welcome back Ryan McClure, 27, from a two-year retirement.

Leeming said young stars Larry Leeming and Aaron McDonald would also return to the club after playing in Melbourne and Geelong respectively while studying at university.
