Warracknabeal Primary School discus thrower Chloe Bibby and Horsham West Primary School runner Jarrod Berry won the 11 years girls' discus and 11 years boys' 800 metres respectively.
Bibby won her medal with her `lucky last' throw after fouling off her first two attempts in the final.
Bibby, 11, had six throws on the day and only landed two of them in bounds, one to get into the eight-girl final and her last throw to win the event.
Adrian Bibby, her father, said Chloe's win came as a surprise.
"She won it with her very last throw," he said.
"It caught us all by surprise."
Chloe said she overcame early nerves to win the competition.
"I got a bit nervous because there was a net behind me and everyone was watching," she said.
"But when it got to my final throw I knew I just had to do it.
"As soon as I let it go I knew it was going to be a long throw."
She threw 26.69 metres to win the gold.
"It took a while for it to sink it," she said.
"I took the medal to school to show everyone."
Berry, who won bronze at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Exchange last year, was able to claim his honour after settling in with the lead group.
"A group of four runners broke away early and I was one of them," he said.
"I was able to keep with them and then I broke away in the last 100m and held them off."
Berry said the gold medal came as a surprise.
"I wasn't sure about my chances," he said.
"I just was going to go there and run. I didn't care about the result."
The two winners have been offered places in the Victorian team for the National Schools Athletics Championships in Sydney from November 29 to December 2.
Both families are deciding whether they will compete.
