At 56, she still plays C Grade with Rupanyup in Horsham District Netball Association and is in her fifth year as association president.
Kelly has had a long involvement with the association, previously serving as secretary for five years and as an executive member for countless more.
It isn't work for her though.
"I put my hand up to be on the executive and it was the best thing I ever did," she said.
"It's the friendships I've made that has been the best part.
"I've made friends and contacts all over the state - it doesn't matter where I go, I know someone through netball."
Kelly said the association worked hard to provide opportunities for its players.
"There are so many pathways available, not just for players but umpires, coaches and administrators," she said.
She said she got a lot of enjoyment out of being involved in association representative teams.
"Our girls always perform so well, they've developed a good reputation all over the state," she said.
Kelly has coached the association 13 and under representative team in recent years.
"A lot of the girls I've coached are now playing well at senior level," she said.
"Look at girls like Emma Ryan - she started with Edenhope-Apsley and is now playing with Ballarat Pride at state level.
"It's great to see their netball progress and know you've played a part in it, even if it has been small."
Kelly played netball with Marnoo for 10 years before joining Rupanyup in 1980.
She is unsure how many games she has played.
"There have been too many to count," she said.
Kelly played a lot of her netball in B Grade, but has moved to C Grade in recent years.
"I play in the mid court," she said.
"I did play goal defence for about three or four years. I'm a little short but I managed it somehow."
Kelly said the game of netball had changed a lot since she started.
"It's more of a flow-on game now, it's not so much stop and start," she said.
"It's become a lot more physical too.
"The girls are so fit now and are playing a lot more netball."
Kelly said she had no plans to stop playing any time soon.
"While I still can, I'll keep playing, otherwise you're a long time out of the game," she said.
"I still love it, even though I'm playing with and against girls who are a third of my age."
Kelly said her dream was to create a competition for older netballers in the region.
"My vision is to create a masters competition to provide for the older netballers on a Saturday," she said.
"Players tend to be playing later into their careers now.
"So this competition would keep them in the game longer, without them having to continue playing at a high level.
"I don't know how we'd fit it into the day, but I'd like to see it happen."
With Horsham District Netball Association finals now in full swing, Kelly is kept busy.
"It's two full days," she said.
"You're there at 9am and there all day. It's a long weekend, especially when I'm teaching full time during the week.
"I enjoy it though. This year it is so close, especially in A Grade.
"You could try to pick a winner, but there is a good chance you'll get it wrong. Anyone could win."
