HORSHAM golfer Jarrod Priestley is building his game.
Priestley, 16, scored an eagle on the par five third hole during a Horsham Golf Club stableford competition on January 14.
The B Grade player said it was his first eagle.
The hole was 442 metres long.
"I had my tee shot and it was a good drive up the middle and the second shot really set it up," Priestley said.
"I used a three wood to hit it onto the green and it drew nicely and finished up towards the hole.
"Putting was the nervous bit. I had to visualise the put and go through it."
Priestley's eagle helped him finish second in B Grade.
John Priestley, a former Horsham Golf Club captain, said he was proud of his son's efforts.
"Most A graders would have an eagle every second week but it's not very often a junior hits one," he said.
Playing off a handicap of 15, Priestley has made the most of the school holiday break, playing in Wednesday and Saturday competitions.
He said he was still developing his game after taking up the sport three years ago.
"I was up and down but I'm starting to get more consistency now," he said.
