THE inaugural Lawman USA Hot to Trot race briefly sent Horsham Racing Centre into chaos on Wednesday afternoon.
Driver Michael Stanley was flipped off his drive Gluteus Major after coming together with Earls Gold, driven by Brett Shipway, who galloped just metres after the start of the race.
Gluteus Major, with his sulky on its side and minus his driver, charged down the straight and off the course, through the gate and into the mounting yard as spectators and other trainers and drivers tried to slow him down with cries of 'whoa' and in-vein attempts to grab his overturned sulky.
But Gluteus Major was not to be denied as he was determined to find his stall which is where he stopped.
Stanley, who managed to land without injury, was a dejected figure as he walked off the track and cracking his whip against the fence. Gluteus Major also appeared to have no injuries.
Earls Gold finished fifth.
The steward's office told the Mail-Times that Earls Gold would be out of the draw for its next race and would be given a wide draw in case it galloped again.
