BLOKARTERS from Horsham, Adelaide and Melbourne will converge on Oliver's Lake salt pan today for two days of racing.
Horsham blokarter Rod Jenkinson said the event, north of Natimuk, would pit some of the best blokarters in Australia against each other.
The races will involve the three-wheeled carts being propelled by wind around a triangular course.
Jenkinson said the carts often reached speeds of 50 and 60 kilometres an hour.
"Some modified blokarts can reach up to 90 kmh," he said.
He said blokarters would compete for a silver winner's shield, awarded to the best blokarter at the end of two days of racing.
"We will try to run about eight to 10 races a day," he said.
"I've never won, but I know the course well.
"I reckon I'm in for a chance."
Jenkinson said three Horsham blokarters were competing.
"We will face stiff competition from the Adelaide and Melbourne blokarters," he said.
"In previous years my pace has felt like a Sunday drive compared to theirs."
Jenkinson said anyone who came to the event was welcome to try blokarting before and after the racing.
"It's an exhilarating sport and jostling for position can be quite fun," he said.
"It's a convenient sport, because blokarts can fold up and fit in the boot of your car.
"It's like yachting, but on dry land."
Races start at 10.30am today and tomorrow and further social blokarting will continue at the lake on Sunday.
