Students sold short

08 Feb, 2012 09:39 AM
I WOULD like to voice my support for the previous letters written concerning the Horsham College.

I am a past pupil of Horsham High School and my husband and I were both teachers there for many years.

Our four children all received excellent educations there and we now have a grand-daughter attending the college.

I visited the junior campus last year on open day and was impressed with the standard of the work on display and the enthusiasm of both students and staff, and was dismayed at the condition of the buildings and the surrounds.

Now we are told that the students at the secondary campus will be housed in temporary accommodation.

Past experience shows that temporary can mean a long time.

We thought we had seen the last of portables years ago.

This is the largest secondary school in the Wimmera and it has a proud history.

Our current students are being sold short, these are our future citizens and they deserve better.
