Spinners and Weavers create 'connection' textile art

HORSHAM Spinners and Weavers members and new Wimmera migrants have created textile art inspired by the theme of 'connection'.

Participants created six-inch squares using techniques such as crochet or knitting, which they will join together to make wall hangings and rugs.

The finished works will be displayed in Horsham Library in March.

Spinners and weavers secretary Val Pascall said members of Oasis Wimmera would provide lunch during a special weekend workshop.

"We invite people to help us plan and stitch together the squares for the exhibition, using all the squares we have received," she said.

"Different stories of connectedness have inspired each square.

"We will stitch these together while enjoying the delicious food from Oasis Wimmera.

"The lunch workshop will be in the Makers Studio in Horsham Library on the Australia Day weekend of January 26 and 27."

Mrs Pascall said interested people could call 0478 123 933 to book for lunch, which cost $20.

The Horsham Library exhibition of the communal artworks will include makers' stories about the importance of the textile piece they have created.
