Demons hold fourth spot

WYCHEPROOF-NARRAPORT solidified its fourth-place position with a win against Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills in the Wimmera-Mallee Cricket Association A Grade competition on Saturday.

The two teams went into the match separated only by percentage points.

Wycheproof-Narraport took the win, 122-107.

Batting first, Wycheproof-Narraport took it to the opposition with James Allan scoring 36 not out.

Nick Coles and Johnathon Grylls were the next best with the bat, knocking up 27 and 15 respectively.

Coles also performed strongly with the ball, taking 3-18. Joshua McPherson bowled ably for Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills, taking 3-22.

Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills also worked hard with the bat.

Opening batsman Mark McPherson did well, knocking

up 25, while Ashley Herron made 28 not out.

The end result leaves Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills in fifth position.

In other matches, Donald 5-163 beat Charlton 147 at home.

Charlton batted first, with Brendan Gretgrix scoring a strong 40 runs.

Donald wasn't going to allow an easy match though.

Jake Leith took 3-27 with the ball before opening the batting.

Joshua Gilmour was the stand-out, hitting 54, while Dion Hawkes, 26, and Matt Gilmour, 38, also performed adeptly.

Third-placed St Arnaud 2-70 beat bottom-placed Jeffcott 60 in a low-scoring match.

Jeffcott's Daniel Pearce, 20, and Daniel Atkins, 20, were the team's top-scorers.

Carl Torney, 31, and Jacob Patching, 30 not out, were sound contributors for St Arnaud.

In another low-scoring match, ladder leader St Mary's, 2-64, took control of Marnoo, 51, at Warracknabeal.

Marnoo's opening batsman Stewart Macpherson top-scored with 21.

St Mary's Kane Taylor scored 23.
