WITH about 40 years of experience under her belt, Horsham West Primary School assistant principal Dino McMillan has taught hundreds of pupils - and the children of past pupils.

This year she has a new novelty, working alongside a past pupil, who is the daughter of a past pupil.

Sarah O'Connor, 22, is among the new teachers at the school's Haven campus.

Mrs McMillan was her grade five teacher. Mrs McMillian nee Perkins was also Sarah's mother Narelle O'Connor's grade five teacher.

The assistant principal said she was excited to mentor Sarah as a teacher.

"Sarah came here and did a lot of volunteer work and gained extra experience last year,'' she said.

"We always pride ourselves on the West students.

"Her mum came to a staff barbecue the other day. It's good to see them.''

Mrs O'Connor said she still had her 1971 grade five report from Miss Perkins.

Miss O'Connor said she enjoyed working alongside her former teacher.

"It's good it's a different end of it," she said.

Miss O'Connor said her first week of teaching preps had gone well.

"I love it," she said.
