After a six-year absence, the swim leg is back in the Wimmera River.
Horsham Tri president Mark Pumpa said entries had flooded in and he was hopeful for a record number of competitors.
“We’ve had a heap of calls for teams and plenty of interest from the kids,” he said.
“We’ve had entries from as far as Perth, Geelong and Echuca.
“Everyone seems pretty excited to get back in the river.”
Mr Pumpa said he was confident that last year’s men’s triathlon winner – Geelong’s Anthony Goss – would return to defend his title.
Echuca athlete Steve Gray, who is a four-time winner of the race, is also set to return after finishing second last year.
Ararat’s Cameron Evans said the triathlon was perfect preparation for next month’s Ironman Melbourne.
“The swim is what it’s all about for me – I can’t wait to tear it up,” he said.
“The ride and the run are going to be fantastic too.”
Former Horsham man Shane Miller will return for the third straight year after an eventful 2012 Horsham Triathlon.
Not only did Miller, 34, take out the mixed teams event, he also became engaged mid-race.
Miller, who tied the knot to his long-time partner Veronica Micich in December, said he could not wait to get back home and compete.
“This year I won’t be stopping – I had to stop last year and propose so my time might improve a bit,” he said.
It will be an action-packed program with eight races, including a long and short course duathlon for both senior and junior athletes.
Registration is available between 2.30pm and 4.30pm tomorrow at the Horsham Angling Club rooms.
