Bakers Delight bake for Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

WIMMERA Bakers Delight stores in Horsham and Ararat will help raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Bakers Delight workers across Victoria will aim to bake more than 140,000 hot cross buns on March 16.

The bakers will donate $1 to the appeal from every six-pack of hot cross buns sold.

Bakers Delight Victoria regional manager Elise Gillespie said the 222 Bakers Delight stores in Victoria aimed to raise more than $40,000.

"The money will go towards essential equipment needed for the hospital's ear, nose and throat treatment room," she said.

"The hospital hopes to buy a mounted ear microscope with video capability, which will primarily be used to detect common conditions that occur in childhood.

"Easter is our busiest time of year, so it's a great opportunity to give back to the hospital and make a difference."

Good Friday Appeal executive director Deborah Hallmark said the existing equipment used in the ear, nose and throat treatment room was more than 30 years old.

"This new ear microscope with video capacity is certainly much-needed," she said.

"The generosity of Bakers Delight and their customers will help clinical staff increase how many children they can see."
