AUTHORITIES have contained fires throughout the Wimmera.
A 690-hectare fire in the Little Desert National Park and a fire near Dadswells Bridge were contained by midday.
Fire authorities worked throughout Thursday night to control three fires, which included a 600-hectare blaze at Kadnook.
The Dadswells Bridge fire was part of a cluster of three.
Department of Sustainability and Environmental and Parks Victoria crews were monitoring 12 fires.
The department's Wimmera district land and fire manager Russell Manning said crews monitored the entire region to ensure authorities were aware of all fires.
"Because of the really terrible conditions we had yesterday – 70 to 100-kilometre winds most of the day – we had trouble checking some of the public areas of the Wimmera," he said.
Mr Manning said fire-fighters would walk into the Grampians to contain a fire near Hoffmans Road.
He said the crews would create a mineral earth line around the fire.
"We put retardant lines on that with fire bombers yesterday but we have crews walking into that fire today – it is in really steep remote terrain," he said.
"We have some of our arduous firefighters to put a hand trail around it."
Mr Manning said while weather conditions would remain stable, fires could reignite.
"The weather is looking stable for us for the next four or five days and the Bureau of Meteorology advised that the next fire weather is potentially next Wednesday and Thursday," he said.
"There may be fires that have had a shower on them but when the conditions start to dry out they could start up again today or over the weekend."
LITTLE DESERT NATIONAL PARK - SALT LAKE TRACK
Mr Manning said fire crews used bulldozers to construct a containment line around the 690-hectare fire.
KADNOOK - KADNOOK TRACK
Mr Manning said authorities worked overnight Thursday to track the now-contained fire.
He said the Kadnook fire had burnt in an usual shape because of strong winds on Thursday.
"It only 500 metres wide but it burnt for about 10 kilometres – it is in the shape of a finger, if you like," he said.
"It is not completely uncommon for a fire to burn like that but it is a bit unusual in this sort of forest - that is more a grassfire pattern."

Mr Manning said bulldozer containment lines controlled the largest of the three fires.
He said police had deactivated a plan to close the Western Highway if fire conditions worsened.
