Time to stop bickering

YESTERDAY'S leadership spill was confirmation of what many people had expected for weeks.

Factions of the Labor Party were sceptical as to whether Prime Minister Julia Gillard could lead the party to successive election victories and moved to oust her.

However the real surprise was perhaps in former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's actions.

Mr Rudd kept his word that he would not challenge for the leadership - again - and refused to stand against Ms Gillard.

He should be acknowledged for staying true to his word when so many of our political leaders fail to keep their promises to the people they are meant to represent.

There are so many things that are begging to be dealt with across the country and in our Wimmera patch and these issues don't deserve to take a back seat while politicians bicker and throw mud at each other.

We hope the Federal Government can now move on and turn its attention to what should be the top priority working for the rights of the Australian people and to make this great county of ours a better place and one which will remain a great nation for generations to come.
