Grampians Carriage Drivers is a newly formed 'harness for pleasure' club catering for carriage driving enthusiasts in the Wimmera area.
The club is situated at the Great Western Racecourse Reserve, where there are some fantastic roads and tracks to go out pleasure driving.
The club meets on the first weekend of every month and some members camp over for the weekend, taking in two days of driving.
There are some very experienced members in the club who are very willing and able to help out with questions or help anyone attending might need.
At the moment it is a bit quiet, but the weather will pick up and the club is hoping to see a few more people join them in their activities.
The club is helping to run the State Show Driving Championships on December 8 and 9 at the Bendigo Showgrounds. The club is also hoping to conduct a Driven Dressage Day in the future, to help raise some funds for the club.
There are several Advanced Dressage Judges within the club, so a lot of fun can be expected with that event.
It is very interesting to watch carriage horses doing Dressage, particularly the Pairs, Tandems and Teams.
The club would like to thank Barham Insurance Agencies of Stawell for their assistance in helping the Grampians Carriage Drivers get started. Members know too well it can be very daunting trying to raise funds for items the club will need.
The August rally will have instruction, on Saturday, August 4 followed by a Navigational Drive on Sunday, August 5.
Both days will commence at 10am, with a sausage sizzle available for lunch.
