PATRON facilities at St Arnaud Racecourse will be upgraded with a $50,000 grant.
Member for Swan Hill Peter Walsh announced the grant on Friday.
He said the works would significantly improve the look and accessibility at the racecourse, ensuring patrons and the St Arnaud community could continue to enjoy events at the track.
The upgrades will be completed in time for the St Arnaud Cup on October 26.
"The St Arnaud Cup is one of the biggest events of the year and with more than 2000 people attending it brings significant economic benefits to the town, particularly hospitality businesses," Mr Walsh said.
"Cup day and the installation of turf and a permanent power supply to the marquee area will ensure the club can better cater to patrons on this fantastic race day."
Other works will include installation of perimeter fencing and a marquee area, sprinkler systems and a permanent ticket box.
Wimmera Racing Club's club manager Penny Penfold said the funding would provide a vital boost to the club.
"This is a very significant project for St Arnaud Turf Club and one that will enable us to service our race day patrons better without the expense of hiring temporary infrastructure such as generators and fencing," she said.
"Creating a public lawn area will enhance the overall look of the racecourse and also increase the appeal of our hospitality marquees on cup day."
The State Government has provided $23,490 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund with the St Arnaud Turf Club contributing $8000 in cash and in-kind contributions.
Racing Victoria has contributed $12,500 and the St Arnaud Racecourse Reserve Trustees $5500.
