PETS will parade through Wimmera Nursing Home in Horsham on Wednesday for a pet visiting day.
Residential services leisure and lifestyle program manager Denise Ford said residents at the home including those in Matron Arthur Manor and Sir Robert Menzies Manor would be treated to visits from animals throughout the day.
"It's mostly dogs registered so far," she said. "There will be a whippet, a border collie and a mystery pet."
Mrs Ford encouraged the region's pet owners to visit on the day with their pets.
"All animals must be vet checked, clean, wormed, de-flead and be of gentle temperament before entry," she said. "Owners are asked to clean up after the animals and sign in and out when visiting."
She said pet therapy was a vital part of the residential services aged care program.
"The residents love it," Mrs Ford said. "We had a dog wedding a couple of years ago."
She asked pet owners who felt their animal would benefit from visiting the elderly to call her on 0439 958 317.
Horsham's Wimmera Nursing Home is located within the Wimmera Base Hospital grounds in Robinson Street.
