FIRE investigators were in Ararat after a dry cleaning business was destroyed by fire overnight.
A Country Fire Authority spokesperson said the Vincent Street business was well alight when crews arrived shortly after 7.15pm.
"Unable to enter the burning building, crews concentrated their efforts on protecting shops either side of the dry cleaner's," the spokesperson said.
"It took two hours to bring under control."
The spokesperson said there were 11 vehicles at the scene at the height of the blaze, hailing from as far afield as Ballarat.
They said Ballarat City's ladder platform truck was used to fight the fire from above.
State Emergency Service units and Victoria Police were also at the scene.
The spokesperson said emergency services saved the buildings adjoining the dry cleaning service.
