Liberal candidate for Mallee Chris Crewther has thrown his support behind calls for a Horsham College upgrade.
Mr Crewther attended Horsham College and said the state of the college was a concern.
"Providing a good education to young people in the Mallee electorate is so important," he said.
"I know that many members of the school community are fed up and when you visit the school you can understand why."
Mr Crewther's comments follow Deputy Premier Peter Ryan's concession on Wednesday that the college needed to be rebuilt.
Mr Ryan said, while the college needed to be redeveloped, the state's budget had been too tight.
The State Government failed to fund the rebuild in the past three state budgets despite community cries for help.
"Both the Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty and I are very aware of the college," Mr Ryan said.
"It is not just a case of flattening what is there and rebuilding what needs to be there.
"Across Victoria we have many similar situations to the one at Horsham College."
