HORSHAM is one step closer to winning back-to-back Wimmera Netball Association A Grade titles after beating Ararat 46-30 at Davis Park, Nhill on Saturday.
The Demons dominated last season's grand final opponent in the first term to open up a 13-3 quarter-time lead.
The following three quarters proved to be an arm wrestle, with Horsham holding on for their 17th straight win of the season.
Coach Emma Uebergang said her side's blistering start was pivotal in knocking off the Rats.
"Something we wanted to focus on was making sure we had a good start especially knowing that Ararat is a team that doesn't give up," she said.
Attacking pair Georgia Duncan and Steph Thomson continued their sensational seasons, scoring 24 and 22 goals respectively. "They're awesome to watch," Uebergang said.
"Both of them shot really well once again and had their confidence up right from the start."
Zoe Heard and Katelyn Parry also impressed for the undefeated Demons.
Midcourt player Olivia West was Ararat's best, while Tahnee Walker was on song in attack with 21 goals.
The Demons now have a well-earned bye, but Uebergang said there would most likely be an extra training session to prepare for the association's decider.
Ararat has an eight-day break before facing Stawell in a preliminary final at home on Sunday their second finals match-up in three weeks.
