HORSHAM’S Amy Kemp was head and shoulders above the rest in the Wimmera Netball Association C Grade best and fairest vote count on Monday night.
Kemp, 25 votes, finished eight votes clear of her nearest rival, Warrack Eagle Renae Nurse.
The Demons defender polled 17 votes by the midway point of the season – a feat that included five best-on-court performances.
She never looked back and was an easy victor.
It was a tie for third place, with Dimboola’s Jenna Seers and Stawell’s Amelia Pollock both on 16 votes.
Kemp said she did not expect to win and gave credit to team-mate and last year’s winner Alana Nelson.
“It was very surprising,” she said.
“I thought Alana would have almost won it – she had a good season again.”
Next on Kemp’s agenda is Saturday’s C Grade grand final against Stawell – and she believes her side can win.
“It’ll be a close contest I think,” she said.
