WIMMERA Football League chief commissioner John Smith confirmed it would be an ‘impossibility’ to change Saturday’s grand final venue from Davis Park in Nhill to Horsham City Oval.
The decision to host the grand final at Nhill has received a large amount of backlash from Wimmera Football League players and supporters.
But Mr Smith said the decision would stand.
“The commission looked at the options if Dimboola or Horsham didn’t make the senior football grand final,” he said.
“But we’re a commission that operates on credibility and sincerity; therefore we will not be changing the ground from Nhill.”
When asked if Horsham City Oval was the second option in case Davis Park failed a final ground inspection, Mr Smith said the playing field at Nhill was immaculate.
“I’ve looked at it myself - it’s perfect,” he said.
“The Nhill Sporting Club has been preparing for this for more than two weeks to provide what will be equal to if not better than any other grand final in recent years.”
