HORSHAM Ladies Probus Club is thriving with more than 100 members on its 25th anniversary.
The club hosted a luncheon at Horsham RSL on Thursday to toast the milestone.
Members of the Horsham, Horsham East and Horsham Combined Probus clubs also joined the celebrations.
President Joan Green said members loved the club’s guest speakers and trips throughout the Wimmera and state.
“We have been to Melbourne for an overnight trip, Ballarat, St Arnaud, Mildura and even Naracoorte,” she said.
“It is good fun, fellowship and friendship – that is what the club is all about.”
Member Muriel Conn, who made the anniversary cake, has baked for the club’s special occasions for almost 17 years.
She was one of 18 founding members to receive certificates on Thursday.
Mrs Green said Mrs Conn’s contribution was a ‘stand out’.
She encouraged Wimmera women to join the club to meet new people.
“Some of our folk battle long-term illness yet they still want to come out on every trip,” she said.
“It is somewhere to go and our members tend to form little friendship groups within the club.
“If we had some younger ones to take on some of the roles of office within the club, it would be helpful.”
