VICROADS will improve the surface of the Western Highway near Pimpinio.
VicRoads western regional director Ewen Nevett said new lanes should be in use at Dahlen by mid-October.
Meanwhile, he said a contractor would work on the existing road.
“Once this occurs, it will allow the existing lanes to be repaired permanently and the construction of overtaking lanes,” Mr Nevett said.
He said the mid-October timeline was subject to weather.
Mr Nevett said a contractor had also been monitoring damage to the existing road.
“VicRoads is aware of potholes on the Western Highway near Pimpinio, which have occurred during the winter months,” he said.
Temporary repairs to ensure the road was still safe to use have been part of the contractor’s role.
“VicRoads is committed to providing safe conditions for all road users and encourages road uxsers to notify VicRoads of hazardous road conditions, such as potholes, by calling 13 11 70,” Mr Nevett said.
Hindmarsh Shire Council noted the road condition during its meeting at Dimboola on September 18.
Mayor Rob Gersch said he called VicRoads the previous day to complain about potholes.
It was the same day as a Wimmera Regional Transport Group meeting.
“The lane will be ripped up once the passing lane is complete,” Cr Gersch told council.
