THREE Horsham friends have turned their experiences with cancer into a fundraiser for the Cancer Council.
Shantelle Adams and Belinda Taylor battled with ovarian and cervical cancers respectively six years ago.
Their friend Susie Relouw went into remission for breast cancer six weeks ago.
“Between the three of us we’ve just about covered all women’s cancers,’’ Mrs Adams said.
“Initially we were going to do just a Girls Night In.
“Then we said, let’s do something a bit more exciting.’’
The three will host a Wimmera Pink Event at Horsham’s Commercial Hotel on October 19.
Mrs Adams said the event would include a trivia quiz and a silent auction. She said pre-bought tickets cost $15 a person or $20 on the night.
The trivia quiz would involve tables of eight.
Mrs Adams said the money raised would go towards breast and gynaecological cancers research.
She encouraged people to support the event.
“About 50 to 70 people at the trivia night would be perfect,’’ she said.
Mrs Adams said the silent auction was open from 6 to 9.30pm and the trivia quiz would start at 8pm.
She said Wimmera businesses had already donated auction items worth more than $1500 but the trio hoped for more.
Mrs Adams said people could donate or buy tickets by calling her on 0459 661 583 or Belinda on 0409 009 420 or visiting John Newman Insurance in McLachlan Street, Horsham.
