THE undead will roam Horsham’s streets on Halloween as part of the city’s first Zombie Shuffle.
Organiser Robyn McLean encouraged people to don their deathliest duds, slap on some face paint and join in the fun.
Beginning at the soundshell in Sawyer Park at 6pm on October 31, Ms McLean said participants would shuffle along Firebrace Street to May Park.
The event will finish there with a barbecue.
Ms McLean said she was inspired by similar events in Melbourne and Adelaide.
She said she had been celebrating Halloween with sons Callum, 14, and Kyle, 10, for at least three years.
“My kids dress up and go trick-or-treating on Halloween,” she said.
She sheathed her home in fake spiders’ webs and rubber spiders last year.
Several shoppers at a Horsham supermarket also got a fright when Ms McLean went shopping in Halloween attire.
“I absolutely love dressing up,” she said.
Based on the popularity of a fancy dress event at a Horsham bowling club on Friday the 13th, Ms McLean said she was probably not alone.
She did not believe Horsham had had a Zombie Shuffle before.
“Hopefully a lot of young people will join in,” she said.
Ms McLean invited the community to contribute to the event with their own creative ideas.
“Join the event on Facebook – just search for Horsham Zombie Shuffle,” she said.
