THE Grampians’ best cricketers will face a team of former Australian greats when the Australian Cricketers’ Association Masters team hits Stawell later this month.
The cricket legends will be in Stawell between October 24 and 26.
The highlight will be an action-packed Twenty20 match on October 25 at Central Park against Grampians Cricket Association.
Captained by Swifts-Great Western batsman Travis Nicholson, the Grampians squad is packed with exciting players.
Nicholson and fellow left-hander, Tatyoon’s Jarrod Blandford, will be the ones to watch with the bat.
Swifts-Great Western all-rounder Jackson Dark is another talented cricketer and he represented Central Highlands at under-18 level in its state title on the Melbourne Cricket Ground last season.
Expect Tatyoon’s Tim McDougall and Swifts-Great Western’s Marc Brilliant to be among the wickets.
McDougall is a talented speedster, who takes plenty of wickets at club level and is also a handy lower-order batsman. Brilliant is a swing bowler who is closing in on 500 Grampians Cricket Association scalps.
Aradale’s Travis Horvatek will take the wicket-keeping duties.
Australian test cricketers Craig McDermott, Rodney Hogg and Matthew Elliott will be among the host of stars in the ACA Masters side.
