WIMMERA fire-fighters could be called on to help their New South Wales counterparts if fire conditions worsen at the weekend.
NSW fire crews are battling more than 90 fires that have destroyed hundreds of homes across the state.
Victorian Country Fire Authority crews and equipment, Metropolitan Fire Brigade staff and incident management teams have crossed the border to lend a helping hand.
The authority's district 17 operations officer Trevor Ebbels said no Wimmera crews had gone to New South Wales.
But he said Wimmera fire-fighters could be asked to follow.
"It will depend on what transpires over the weekend," he said.
"There are no plans in place for anyone in the Wimmera to go up yet."
