THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Wimmera and Mallee.
The bureau has predicted severe thunderstorms that are likely to produce damaging winds.
Heavy rainfall might lead to flash flooding and large hailstones.
Horsham is likely to be affected.
Bureau of Meterology senior forecaster Scott Williams said the Wimmera's biggest concern was the chance of a thunderstorm.
"There are a few storms around the border now, so it could hit the Wimmera between now and 9pm," he said.
"It will most likely bring brief periods of heavy rain, but could possibly be severe."
Mr Williams said Horsham had received 6.6 millimeters since 9am and unless the storm hit, it was unlikely the region would received much more rain.
