A MIGHTY mosaic montage crafted by more than 50 Ararat children will go on show in the Ararat Performing Arts Centre.
Ararat Regional Art Gallery program support officer Wendy Stevens said the project was part of the city’s Children’s Week activities.
“Elmhurst-based mosaic artist Christine Baines created a huge, wide swirly tree,” Ms Stevens said.
Over the course of two workshops on Tuesday, pupils from four primary schools made leaves for the tree.
Pupils from years two to six attended from St Mary’s Primary School, Willaura Primary School, Ararat West Primary School and Ararat North Primary School.
Each pupil made four mosaic leaves – one for each of the four seasons.
“They really loved it, and all the school staff were very positive about the event,” Ms Stevens said. “Christine was great – she even played Vivaldi’s Four Seasons while they were working.”
The mosaic will be on display in the Ararat Performing Arts Centre foyer at the weekend, and for a fortnight from November 5.
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development supported the event.
