WIMMERA Health Care Group will host a fun run and walk next month to promote healthy living.
Move4Life, on November 10, will be along the Wimmera River, starting at Sawyer Park, Horsham.
Wimmera Health Care Group public relations co-ordinator and Move4Life committee member Amelia Crafter said the event was for the whole community, with people of any age and fitness level encouraged to take part.
“The main aim is to get people active and looking at the great walking tracks we have around Horsham,” she said.
“We have three tracks for the event, we’ve added an eight-kilometre track for the serious runners and we’ve also got five kilometres and two kilometres.
“People can walk, jog, run or wheelchair their way along the track.”
Mrs Crafter said the committee had taken on feedback from the inaugural event last year and hoped for more than 100 people to take part.
“We’ve moved the event forward from 10am to 9am because it got a bit hotter later in the event,” she said.
“We would like to see people from any sporting club participate in their club colours.
“When they pick up their registration packs on the day, they can nominate their club name and the club with the most in attendance will claim bragging rights as the Move4Life 2013 most active club.”
Mrs Crafter said the event cost $5 for children 16 and under and pensioners, $10 for adults and $30 for a family of up to five.
The cost includes a sweatband, drink bottle and fresh fruit on finishing.
Mrs Crafter said pre-registration was preferred and anyone wanting to register could visit www.whcg.org.au and follow the links to the ‘register now’ website.
