DIMBOOLA Memorial Secondary College students have been rehearsing for their school production, Just Another High School Play.
Seventeen students from years seven to 12 are involved in the production.
Students Andrew King, Hayley Crawley and Hadassah Schembri are the directors.
“The performance follows a group of students through the evening of a school production during which nothing goes according to plan,” Andrew said.
“The show is about a comedic assistant director putting the show into havoc while the stage manager tries to get the show back on the road.
“Things don’t go to plan when the drama teacher disappears and the students have to then work together to perform a different show to the one that was planned.”
Andrew said it was exciting to see the play coming together.
Hayley said the cast and crew had been really great to work with.
“It has been a lot of fun so far,” she said.
“I hope the community enjoys the hard work everyone has put in.
“Some of the scenes, such as Romeo and Juliet, Little Women, Christmas Carol and a special Our Town, This Town, which shows patriotic appreciation of our town, will be recognisable to all age groups.
“Modern twists on these classic tales are not ones you will forget, including special guest appearances from Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday and Sandy and Danny from Grease.”
The students have also created a facebook page for the show – facebook.com/dmscdrama.
The production will debut on November 8 and 9 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for concession and secondary students and under 12s are free. Tickets are available on the night.
